Harvest Now Available at Amazon:

Where do I buy "cube steak" and "lard" or replacements?

I unbendable to gather to cook (I can make spaghetti :P ) by building "Country Fried Steak and Milk Gravy".
Recipe says I need "4 cube steaks" and lard.

Even if
1) The house where I shop (SaveOnFood) doesn't seem to have animal lard, only some vegetable stuff named another way they said is used for baking. Where do I get lard/what do I exchange it with?
2) Then, they have all kinds of beef steaks, but no "cube" steak. What are synonyms/apposite replacements for cube steak or where must I go to buy it?

It is becoming very hard to take lard these days. Since we have become so health conscious a switch has been made from animal fats to vegetable or nut oils. If you are in the USA, Sam's subdue has lard, but it is in a container much larger than you are inane to need. You can use instead vegetable, corn and peanut oils (liquid, and is in bottles) or vegetable shortening (colorless, soft solid and is in cans).
I rather the shortening for frying everything and for gravies
Any thinner weak beef steak can be used, I use one labeled "cutlets", but I also use round steak.
Milk gravy can be very hard for beginners. My proposition is that you turn off the oven burner just before to count the milk. Add the milk all at once and stir well, scraping the underside of the pan. Then turn on the burner and take up again stirring until thickened. I've by no means had lumpy gravy cooking it this way.
